Evaluating Sources

Ask Yourself...

  • Who is the author, publisher, or sponsor?
  • What are the author's credentials or organizational affiliations?
  • Is the author qualified to write on this topic?
  • If no author is listed, is the organization publishing or hosting the information well-known and highly credible on the topic?

*For web sources, also ask yourself... does the url reveal anything about the author or source? (example: .gov or .edu is likely more credible than a .com or .org)
